Britt Young

Britt began her time with us as a volunteer and quickly found out that the Kitchen House was the place to be. As a hobby cook with the niggling suspicion that something is wrong in our relationships with food and nature, her very first trip to EEE showed her how to do it right. Working with students and culinary experts opened her eyes to the learning we all must undertake together in order to nourish ourselves, our communities, and our ecosystem.

In her first role as Kitchen Assistant, Britt runs support for EEE’s seed-to-table programs. There’s a lot to be grateful for in this role: inspiring inquisitiveness in children and watching them discover their place in community; leading volunteers who are passionate about the mission; learning from diverse and exceptional industry artisans who share their knowledge with students.

Meanwhile, Britt is using her writing experience (BA in Creative Writing from UCF, freelance copywriting) to increase awareness of EEE’s mission and secure grant funding for its programs. Webcopy, newsletters, course materials, grant applications–she’s loving it all and thrills in finding new ways to communicate what is so special about Edible Education Experience and the seed-to-table philosophy.

Away from work, Britt is practicing her own gardening skills at a local community garden, volunteering for eco-friendly and literary initiatives, and enjoying the vibrant districts of Orlando.
