Job purpose:

The purpose of the Executive Director (ED) is to carry out the role of senior operating officer of the Edible Education Experience. The ED will be responsible for steering the organization by managing operations, leading business and program development, and most importantly establishing a fundraising and donor development program.

Job Description:

1.     Fundraising & Donor Development (45%)

  • Create a culture of philanthropy amongst the staff, board, and organizational partners

  • Act as the lead fundraiser for the organization; this includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of the highest level of donors

  • Set measurable goals, objectives, and metrics for all fundraising activities including but not limited to grant writing, event planning, and donor cultivation 

  • Develop and lead a dynamic fundraising program that includes annual, major, corporate, board and planning giving initiatives

  • Build, maintain, and steward a diverse group of donors 

  • Assist the staff as they perform fundraising duties including grant applications and management. 

2.  Business & Program Development (25%)

  • Manage and coordinate all new business inquiries including all associated administrative tasks and incoming mail processing.  Duties may include and are not limited to leading site visits, coordinating with caterers, and acting as Kitchen Manager during high volume events.

  • Develop new programming in collaboration with the Lead Educators & Program Coordinators. 

  • Maintaining the master calendar and all delegated work management

  • Managing the info@edibleed.org as the primary communication and inquiry pipeline.

  • Update and maintain the edibleed.org website and all related work management.

  • Organize and plan staff meetings including frequency and theme..    

  • Develop comprehensive marketing strategy including social media platforms management and associated data management. 

  • Plan, design, and deliver a bi-monthly newsletter to the EEE community, clientele, and stakeholder groups.

3.     Administrative Staff Management (25%)

  • The Executive Director will be responsible for all direct reports - including but not limited to the Lead Educators and Programs Coordinators.

  • Implement appropriate personnel training and development that ensures qualified human resources necessary for the achievement of the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives. 

  • Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates top-quality people including regular annual job performance reviews for both professional and volunteers. 

  •  Ensure adequate planning and allocation of resources to meet quality standards for established programs, operations, and committees. 

  • Oversee the flow of funds to ensure steady progress toward goals, achievement of the mission, and that proper allocation reflects present and future potential.

  • Ensure a reliable accounting system is in place in order to meet all federal, state, and local compliance standards. 

  • Manage program budget, payroll, and planning including adequate cash flows and operational needs. 

  • Work with the all direct reporting positions to develop an annual plan of work for Edible Education Experience to be approved by the board.

4.     Board Relations (5%)

  • Develop a 5-year strategic plan that focuses on the mission and vision of EEE and a clear outline of the sustained financial stability

  • Develop and nurture a strong relationship with the Board and help guide good decision making for current and future strategies 

  • Provide board orientation to all board members to ensure understanding of the mission and goals of the organization

  • In collaboration with the Board Chair, plan and execute quarterly Board meetings and committees

  • Proactively provide relevant, accurate, and consistent information and data to board leadership including a quarterly report of financial standing and outlook

Qualifications & Skills:

  • The ED will present a proven track record of managing people, developing high-performance teams, managing budgets, and achieving goals.

  • The ED will use their presence to garner new opportunities, promote stronger branding, cultivate relationships with potential funders, and secure funding in order to carry out the mission and vision of EEE 

  • The ED must feel as comfortable speaking in public as writing about the objectives and success of the organization

  • The ED must communicate passion and excitement for the organization’s mission in public messages.

  • The ED should have at least ten years’ experience in a management role. Preferably, the ED should hold an advanced degree, and it’s even better if the degree is a Master’s of Business Administration.

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range is $70,000 - $95,000 that includes a health care and administrative supplement.
