2019 Year In Review - President's Message

Dear Friends of Edible Education Experience,

2019 was a year of great “GROWTH” for Edible Education Experience! Our mission, empowering students and their communities through Seed-To-Table Experiences, was on full display.

Thanks to your support and generosity, the Edible Education Experience continues to make a considerable impact on the lives of local students, teachers and families in the Orlando area. Here are some highlights from the year:

-        We served more than 600 students through field trips and camps. These students cooked and ate freshly-harvested vegetables and other healthy ingredients.

-        Hosted local chefs and restaurateurs at monthly “Chef Night,” including partnerships with the culinary minds behind Black Rooster Taqueria, Ethos Vegan Kitchen, Hunger Street Tacos, Kadence, Prato, Luma on Park and Luke’s Kitchen & Bar.

-        We distributed more than $5,000 in scholarships to deserving students for camps and parent/child attendance at monthly “Chef Night” cooking classes.

-        Hosted the 8th Annual Seed-to-Table Teacher Academy.

-        Built community through Open Garden Days on the first Sunday of each month.

-        Launched monthly “Culinary Curiosities” series of classes, led by local culinary experts and artisans.

- Built the food confidence of our community through corporate retreats that encourage a healthier relationship with food and each other.

-        Hosted the 6th Annual School Garden Field Trip & Empathy Tour, where we visited edible school gardens at Orlando Junior Academy, Orange Center Elementary, Jones High School, Orlando Day Nursery, and Audubon Park School

-        Logged a collective 60-plus volunteer hours per month from more than 30 volunteers.

-        Developed the skills of six interns from Public Allies, Andrews University and Rollins College.

2019 was certainly a banner year for Edible Education Experience, and we have big plans for 2020. We are looking to continued growth as an organization as we reach out to more students than ever to bring them programming that will make lifelong impressions.

But we can’t accomplish that without your help.

For example, to continue and support our internship program, which has been highly successful and instrumental to our success this year, we need an additional $20,000 in funding.

Your generous charitable donation to Edible Education Experience goes directly to assist our organization reach our goals. Please visit our DONATE page to make a difference in the lives of students across Central Florida.

We are thrilled to bring these programs to the community, as well as to many deserving students and teachers throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued support,
